  1. Email sent. Thanks, David
  2. Would love to help you out, John, but my painting is woefully inadequate, especially compared to your examples. I'd love to hear about the outcomes, though. Nice work!
  3. I've looked a bit more into the saw I have - a 1996 18". I see that the quick clamp was being used - and now see the difference in putting the blades in place. Hopefully, I'll be better at using the saw now. Quick question: any tips or suggestions for using the Hegner since I'm new to it, but not a sawing newbie (over 15 years with my DeWalt)?
  4. I haven't been on in a while - a move and trying to get my new work space going and getting everything else going. Just started getting back into projects with my scroll saw. Had always used DeWalts - have a type I and type II. Never saw a need to use anything else ... ... until I was given a Hegner - previously used, but not heavily used. His dad had a hobby shop filled with nearly all professional tools. Of course, the scroll saw was a Hegner. The son, my friend, couldn't find a better place for it than someone he knew already scroll sawed, so now it's in my shop. I've used it a little bit since I've gotten it. I can say that it is much smoother and quieter than my DeWalts - but I would still have not paid more than a DeWalt price for what my DeWalts could do. But ... I am very happy to have the Hegner. My only issue is with the blade holders and way the blades are inserted with the Hegner. I was having a problem with the blade tightener with the wheel on it - wouldn't always grip the blade sufficiently. Ended up just using one of the square drive blade holders for the top spot as well to make sure I could get enough grip on the blade. Is it just because I'm not used to it, or is there a better way? Am I wary of what is a much better design or is there a way to upgrade things in some way? I was quite proficient with my DeWalts, so maybe it's just doing something new. This is the only part of the Hegner that I'm a tad frustrated with. Any help or suggestions out there? Thanks!
  5. They are excellent! If you stick with the Corian versions (which looks great), that will help you in the finishing department. Well done!
  6. I like how it is more than just a frog, but a welcome sign. That should work well. Now, you have to go visit again and see if you can leave it without being noticed.
  7. Nice work. Try all the options. Use what works best for you. I usually go with tape, but there's no arguing with your results.
  8. Thanks everyone. Now I have to get started on my next project.
  9. This project was suppose to be completed sometime for Freshman or Sophomore year as a reminder of my son's confirmation verse. I was glad that I got it completed by his HS graduation party yesterday.
  10. Very nice work!
  11. Thanks, guys! I've been fairly busy and engaged with church work so I haven't been able to get on. I like what both of you have done! In fact, having the simpler pattern is good to see. I appreciate all the work. I'll will post any pictures of a completed project. Thank you so much!
  12. Welcome!
  13. Thank you everyone. I've participated in several forums in the past during my heydays of scroll sawing projects before my oldest was into kindergarten. Now I'm able to get into sawing again and have missed it more than I thought. Photography and coaching kids' sports was my primary focus between wood focus.
  14. I was expecting a 2MB limit on file size. So here is the largest file of this picture that I have. I sent you a PM. ChurchWithAddition.bmp
  15. WOW! That is exactly what I was thinking in my mind's eye when I first wanted to start this project - and you did it with the small file. I'd be interested in what you would do with the larger file that I have. That looks so good that I might still consider doing it that way and just have to set the completion date further in the future. I'm also wondering about how you attached such a large file here.
