Mine came with the light. They have a six year limited warranty and they are direct drive.

The upper arm lifter is a nice feature.

I really like mine and have used the warranty without any problems

Long story but in a nutshell, I bought the original which was a 40-690 from Amazon .com on sale with the light and stand for something like $300.I think about 3 years or so ago. I had a few problems with it and finally about a year or so ago they replaced it with a 40-694 because they couldn't supply a replacement motor for the original. This one came with very dry bearings but once I got that sorted, no other problems.

It doesn't look like the light is standard, but rather an addon accessory.  Updated.  Thanks!

Without filling that in, I cannot complete the survey.

Otherwise I  will rate it here.

I also have the Delta 40-694. Like Don R said, the bearings were dry when I received it and it caused lots of noise and vibration. I took it apart and greased all the bearings with synthetic grease and it purrs now. It is a close brother to the DW788. It has many interchangeable parts. The only differences I can see is the arm lift hold and the case is slightly a different shape.

Just so I don't have to look for them, where are the bearings?

    Thank you

LarryEA, There are bunches of them. The main ones are where the pivot arm from the motor concentric connects to the parallel linkage. There are bearings in every moving part, small needle bearings held in by a cage. A sleeve or bushing goes into them and the bolt goes through that. The bearing that connects the motor concentric to the pivot arm is a sealed bearing and doesn’t need to be greased. Also when taking it apart keep in mind that nut on the shaft is LEFT hand thread. I watched a series of videos on YouTube about maintaining a DW788 and all the information is true for the Delta as well. If you have trouble PM me and I’ll give you my phone number and maybe I can walk you through it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7EWpq3aQeU

The light that came with mine when out within a month after purchasing & the motor started acting up a few weeks ago. I have had this saw sense late last fall. Not even a year old. Upgraded to the Dewalt. Nice this was i had bought a 1 year replacement warranty from the store i bought the saw from. Took it back and was replaced at no charge. Now this is my back-up saw.

I bought mine a few months ago and now that I have a couple hundred hours use on it I feel I can safely give a review.  So far it has been a great saw.  It's very quiet, so much so that I often talk to my Wife on the speaker phone while scrolling and she said the fan sitting next to me makes more noise than the saw itself.  The vibration is minimal and definately much, much less than my old ryobi that would literally move the stand accross the floor.  Blade changes are simple and painless.  I can't really comment on durability since my saw is still relatively new, only time will tell on that front.  I hope I don't have the problem the previous poster had with the motor.  Mine didn't come with a light so no worries there.  Overall I think it's a great saw for the price, and hopefully will get me by for a few years.

I have the 40-690, basically the same except no lift arm holder and they improved the on /off switch so dust doesn't get in as easily as mine. I've had mine for 8 years and use it alot, starting to hear some bearing whines in it now so will probably be replacing those before to long. I love my saw but I wouldn't suggest it for compound cuts. Better to go up to an Excalibur of better if that's your thing

I have never seen or  used  this saw in person but look forward to at some point. Price wise to me it is entry to mid level.

Interesting about the dry bearing comments. Are they dry bearings or bushings?

My first reasonable saw was the Delta SS350 and after a bit of use it seemed a bit noisy so I took it apart and put white lithium grease on all of the pivot points and the connecting links( they don't have bearings) it has been smooth and quiet since.

It is an emergency backup saw now.

Had this saw for a month now and it runs about 5 hours a day till the gets to hot in the garage.   Sure is nicer than the old P_20  delta had . so far it has cut everything I place in the blade. plexi glass,paper.2" oak   Think they have a very nice mid price range saw here.

I've had a 40-694 for 2 weeks now. This table on saw is huge, makes for a lot of area to support a project. It seems to operate with very little vibration, with one exception. When the speed is set in the 3-5 range it starts to make some sort of a speed related harmonic noise. I guess it doesn't really vibrate more but, there is some increased noise. Maybe someone here has an idea as to what might be the cause. This saw also cut more aggressively than my old craftsman. I may look into correcting the problem like other people have with the Dewalt 788. One more thing, the bottom blade clamp is bending the blade towards the cutting edge of the blade. If someone has a fix for this I would love to here it. All in all I really like this saw it is a huge improvement over the old craftsman 16". Once the few issues are resolved this will be an awesome upper end entry level saw.

I just ordered a 40-694 to replace my 40-560 from Home Depot because you can't beat $359 with free shipping. I will give an update on how good it is after using for awhile. I will compare it to Dewalt 788 and the Excalibur 16 that my woodworking club has. So far at the club Dewalt 788 is the choice. The Excalibur 16 is used very little do to the fact it's new and most of the scroll saw people are not familiar with it.

I started having a noise problem and tracked it down to loose motor bolts. I tightened them and now it purrs like a kitten with no further issues. I think it going to be a great saw to use. When it comes time to lubricate the bearings it tears down easy so I foresee no problems with the maintenance.

Have had it for over a year and it's still running strong. Have cut large fretwork clocks and a lot of intarsia projects with some pretty hard lumber. Only disappointment was the table top could have been smoother. Spent some time sanding and polishing and of course making sure the blade holders were  running square. Holds blades well and really no blade breakage except in using spirals. The lift is great, but I use a 2x4 to hold arm up rather then use the locking pin (a lot quicker). But it's probably time to grease the puppy up, so time to re watch the video on how to tune up a Dewalt which is very similar. Would highly recommend this saw at the current price point.
