Two Truths & A Lie:

Quote:

  1. Hey everybody! I completed some more puzzles the past couple of day and I thought I would show them to you. First is one I did that my husband picked out. He's the one that loves putting them back together after I cut them all apart. I might sell this one, and make him another though. Convention in two weeks looming, and I need inventory again. And this one is for my friend's mom who is an equestrian. I asked him if she'd want a fairly easy one or a doozy. He responded doozy definitely, and I think I accommodated him well enough. The scissors were for a size comparison. Let me know what you think!
  2. Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around much, we've had a chaotic week. My mother-in-law got remarried Saturday, so my husband took one of his week's vacations and we spent our free time hanging out with his brother and sister-in-law. 'Twas fun. But, since I have a craft show this saturday to prepare for, back to scrolling! I would say back to work, but I don't really consider scrolling work! I wanted to show y'all a couple of the puzzles I finished yesterday. They do still need to be sanded, I will probably do that this evening after it (hopefully) stops raining. I also need to print off a few more graphics today to cut a few more tomorrow. I also did a couple more kids puzzles yesterday, one for the show and one for a commission, but I have neither painted nor taken pictures of them yet. Another thing to do today! This is shaping up to be another chaotic week! At least it will be all jigsaws puzzles the next few days. First, this one isn't for sale, it's for a friend of mine who is letting me use his artwork. And this one is going to the show. It's designed so it doesn't matter which side is up. My husband put it back together after I got home last night and said it was hard. He actually had to break out the key (the photo on my phone, ha!) for a minute. I think the photos I'm going to choose today are going to all be animals. Let me know what y'all think! Oh, and here is a picture of me and the hubs from this weekend.
  3. Evenin all (well, very early morning at any rate... I had company and we stayed up late having a painting party) Here is the snail I cut out using a coloring page I found online. It took what seemed like forever to sand those rings down where they would fit in no matter what direction they were facing, but I managed it after three mouse sheets and a lot of unladylike language.
  4. Hey there everyone! Here's some pics of my latest completed project. Made them for a friend's grandson, and she said he saw the pic I sent her and he loved them. Always proud to hear someone likes my work! First is the Batman puzzle and the tray. Took the pic from one of the covers online, can't remember the artist but it's on the bottom of the puzzle in case the kid ever wants to look the artist up. I made a tray for it, because it's a fairly young child and his granny wanted somewhere for all the pieces to go when he's done. Painted the bat symbol on it with water based acrylic. Next was the Spiderman. Lather rinse repeat. This is only my second experience with photo puzzles, and I think they came out pretty good.
  5. Hi Happy scrollers, I was asked to make a couple of nameplates in the form of puzzle letters and this is what I came up with, hope you like them. Made of 1" ply not treated just in case they want to paint them. Roly
  6. Here's a few of my completed puzzles. The penguins were first, and my first attempt at freehand. It measures about 4"X4", I found the picture in a calendar at the dollar store. I had a tiger too but the paper got wet in the humidity and wrinkled, and the cuts came out all crazy. The second is a 8"X10" Princess Bride puzzle I made for my husband. I'm still sanding the pieces, but I'm happy with how it came out. Also my first attempt with a pattern, that I measured out and drew myself. It came to 121 pieces, and the pieces are about 1/2" square. The third one I finished is the pony puzzle. Like the movie one, I switched to glossy photo paper, which is thicker and seems holds up to the sticky southern weather better. It's my first attempt at following the natural lines to make a unique puzzle. I initially made it for my niece but she's still too little, so I haven't decided if I'm going to hang on to it, or give it to someone else, or try to sell it. (Obviously, copyright issues would be a concern.) Let me know what y'all think! Oh, and they were all cut from 1/4" Baltic Birch with a size 2 spiral/puzzle blade.
  7. Here's a quick video on how to turn a photo into a puzzle. He recommends a #2 blade, but I'd use the puzzle blades sold by Mike's Workshop. Much thinner kerf and works really well for puzzles. http://video.wwgoa.com/videos/001473_make-a-picture-into-a-puzzle/
  8. Finished lion woodimal. BLO with spray laquer. Some kind of soft wood...not sure what kind though. Thanks for looking!
