i just installed gimp software.i have been going over the lessons.i am on lesson 4 now.i am 60 years old (not computer smart) and love scroll sawing and i want to start portrait scroll sawing of my pets etc.i have pics of my subjects on my digital phone but i dont know how to get them from my computer to gimp.i would really appreciate instructions on this and please make it simple and understanding as i am a hands on person (not computer smart).any help would be appreciated.

Lots of people stay away from MDF because it's not wood and you automatically think cheep. The truth of the matter is it's great for bending and it accepts paint better than plywood. the only draw back is moisture. Here are some pictures of a hall table I made from all 3/4" MDF. It was all drawn with sketchup first to get all the angles. The scalloped face was made on the Legacy mill, misted with water to allow it to bend. It was all painted with a pre cat lacquer. Next time you need to make an indoor project that gets painted, don't overlook MDF.

Here's a really clever article from Rockler. I've seen these techniques before, but never put together in a project like this. Really cool.
