Here is an intarsia dragon I made. This first photo shows the final product. It was a gift for a grandson. I used a pattern from Great Book of Dragon Patterns by Lora Irish, but simplified the pattern. This was one of my early intarsia pieces. I would not have been able to accomplish that particular pattern in wood. This is my final pattern. It was about 10" high by about 13" wide. This photo shows progress as I cut, sanded, and put the pieces together. More progress is shown in this photo. The next photo shows progress after painting. I painted the eye, teeth, horns, nose and body. I did not paint the fire. For the fire, I used paduk, which is naturally red. However, I learned that over time paduk oxidizes so it is not as bright. The mane, neck and part of the head are walnut. I did not paint them. This is the final product, with paint and a top coat of lacquer. The next two photos are misplaced. I tried to remove them, using the 'Edit Topic' feature but was unable to do so. Sorry about the mistake. If anyone can tell me how to remove these photos, I would appreciate it.
