  1. Rob

    Corian pen

This is my first attempt at turning Corian. It turns easily and finishes well. I will have to try and find a local source of scraps. Rob
  2. Here is my third ever pen turned from NZ native Rewa Rewa. I used a couple of tubes of super glue trying to get a finish on this and ended up having to sand it all off and start again. Eventually it came out good though, although I think the bulge is a bit too pronounced on this one. Rob
  3. Thought I'd show the method for pen making in pics as I went for those who don't make them or have access to a lathe. On this one I used universal bushes it always best to buy the bushes to fit the pen, it's one of my favourite pass times as well as scrolling. Thanks for looking Roly PS; Majestic Squire pen in gold and rhodium
  4. Here is my latest pen. It's made from maple and sycamore with aluminum between the woods. The kit is a bolt action. finished with CA glue
  5. here is my latest pen. A cigar pen. made from mahogany and the ash is buckeye burl.
  6. here is my latest pen. This is a fountain pen made from curly wormy(ambrosia) maple.
  7. I've been thinking of getting the rolls of sandpaper for pen turning like this one: http://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKSPSET5.html Sure looks convenient. But once you figure in shipping, it's pretty expensive. What's the difference between this and the paper backed sandpaper you can buy at any hardware store? Does the cloth backing really make a difference? Or am I better off saving my money and buying regular sandpaper and cut 1" strips?
  8. Here's my Fat Slimline. Looks like it's belt is on too tight. But the fat pen is sure nice to write with. Feels much more natural than the thin slimlines I'm used to. Gunna make a bunch of these for the guys at work for Christmas. Wrote about it in my new blog. http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/blogs/entry/2-%7B%3F%7D/
