oldhudson Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I have this thread going here we I discribe building a vanity. It has a lot of wood screws and got me thinking about this. Over the years I've tried several lubricants on scews to make installing them easier. (Years ago people used to install sciews with a screwdriver. Some of you may not be old enough to remember that and we drove nails with a hammer, too really, we did.) Anyway I've used liquid hand soap, bee's wax, parafin wax and a couple other items too but the one I use all the time now is a ring of toliet bowel wax. It's cheap, available everywhere, dosen't age or get hard, doesn't stain and works great. I used a putty knief to cut off a small section and put it in a plastic box that held brads. I throw it in the tool box and it's there when I need it. jellis 1 Quote

Roly We always used your favourite BEES WAX Roly, and I still use it yet. More likely to find bees wax in the shop than candles. . Hope you're enjoying your relaxing day. I got landed supervising my son removing and replacing a front strut and spring on a friends car. Had a great time, NO OILY hands . There is no way I could have done it, the state i'm in. I just have a problem getting back UP. The wife says it's because I'm trying to lift the weight of my "thick skull" . Rob Roy. Wilson's Woodworking and bobscroll 2 Quote
