woodknots Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 well I finally got my lathe. I spent sometime building a mobile stand for it before playing with it. I turned two little goblet looking things. I didn't really start out to make the first one they are not turned inside. I have a question I was trying to use the parting tool but all it did is start to burn. is there a reason for this is it a dull tool or me not knowing what to do. I ordered a sharping system ws2000 I hope it does the job I need it to here are some pics of stand and goblets Quote
Ctutor Posted July 22, 2014 Report Posted July 22, 2014 Hard to tell but probably a dull tool. I see you have a diamond shaped parting tool. were you using it correctly. Sometime you need to make the "kerf" wider when you are parting off so the sides do not rub on the side of the cut. woodknots 1 Quote
woodknots Posted July 22, 2014 Author Report Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Ctutor is that the 2nd tool from the right. its probably both a dull tool and I didn't make a wide kerf. Edited July 22, 2014 by woodknots Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted July 23, 2014 Report Posted July 23, 2014 (edited) Love it,great stand for the lathe and chisel holder but I would make a cover for the blades of the chisels to fit into before you stab yourself in the knees. Small modification. Good work. Roly PS: I can't see what chisels you have but I always say don't skimp on chisels buy the best you will see a major difference.
