Hi folks, since I've been barred from scroll saws and any other sharp things, I got fed up,broke the rules and decided to go to the shop, (encouraged by my Grandson). I found some scraps in the spares box, which I had forgotten about. So we, (Grandson), decided to make a couple of desk clocks. I opted for the band saw as it has better guarding than the scroll saw and the youngster can use it safely, under close supervision, very close. Anyway these are the results. The blue one is Grandson's design, cut from a 1-1/4" thick scrap of lime wood, colored with blue stain via an airbrush. The other is lime wood, left over from the blue one and a couple of pieces of 1-1/4" Padauk. With a wee bit of inlay to break it up and both finished with two or three coats of clear matt lacquer. The blue one is 4-1/4" H X 9-1/2"W. The other is 5-1/2" H X 4-1/4"W. I'm a bit rusty after doing sod all for six months, so all comments are most welcome. Oh!!! and managed to cut mine without injury LOL.

Rob you just couldn't resist it could you, nice clocks mounts but where did you buy the clocks from? Roly

Your right Roly, I couldn't resist it,  with a bit of cajolery by the wee one. Thanks for the comments, the wee fella's pleased too.

Clock movements were from Styles& Bates and I got great service from them, units were here in a couple of days. They have quite a good selection too. The only problem was getting a decent  50mm cutter for the movement recess, but I got a cheapie from Amazon which did the job,(after I sharpened it.). So, we'll have a go at some more, later. Got a pig of a job at the moment. Snapped balance shaft belt which ripped off the TIMING BELT and snapped 5 rocker arms^%$£$$^&*IO&%$. It happened right outside the hospital on a ROUNDABOUT!!!. So you'll know what I'm in for, sorry I should have said what my son Scott is in for.
