Vector01 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I recently purchased some wood from the HandsomeWoodman. The one piece of barked birch just screamed out "burn me." So...I started a new project using the birch. I had a scheme planned but when I put it away for a while I come up with new possibilities. At this point I don't know what the final outcome will be. I added some pics of what I have so far. We shall see! Quote
Christina Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Wow Vector great piece of wood and great start on your burn! I can't really see what you have planned but what the wood grain shows me is a panoramic mountain view in the background with a lake in the middle ground. I can't wait to see how you continue and finish this one. Thanks so much for sharing it with us! Christina Quote
Firedkm Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 That looks great! I always wanted to try wood burning...but I don't have the patience for that! Quote
Travis Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 That is really cool. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Keep the pictures comin'! Quote
Vector01 Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 Burn WIP Part II: Christina was on the money. I'm at a standstill on the background. Go with the traditional pines or some other hardwood. It's supposed to be nasty around here starting tonight into tommorow. Without some decent sunshine coming in the place is like a dungeon in here. So I'll dust off the scrollsaw and work on a piece. This will give me some time to consider my next move. Quote
Christina Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 LOL good to know I haven't lost my instincts since it's been so long since I did any burnings! This is turning out just fantastic Vector! I can't wait to see it done. I know what you mean about dungeon like.........my trailer is the same way. I need to get one of those adjustable lamps to be able to do much woodburning. Thanks so much for sharing you WIP with us! Christina Quote
Vector01 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Other than the protective finish it's done. Took a bit longer than I thought. Now back to some scrollen. Sorry about the picture...It's the best shot I could come up with (crap camera). Can't figure out why the right side came out lighter with red tones. Oh well...A new camera will be on my Xmas list Quote
wood-n-things Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Sooo How long have you been doing decoupage? Just Kidding-- that is awesome....I can't draw a straight line to save my soul. I'm so envious of true artists. KUDOS! Quote
Vector01 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks. You had me there for a minute...Had to look up decoupage. Not a bad idea though. Quote
Christina Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 GORGEOUS! It turned out just as fabulous as I thought it would Vector. That wood is so beautiful it just really did beg for this burn. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. You did an awesome job on it. Christina Quote

Anyone would be pleased to hang this in their house! I would love to be able to do something like this. How big is it and how long did it take you? Quote
