Dave-O Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 I may be missing something here Im hoping you can get me squared away as I would love to create my own patterns. Here is my Delima: I have Gimp 2.8 (just downloaded today) now when Im in L-4 you say go to File, open, name. Im good so far then you ask me to go to image then canvas size. Next you say go to File new template etc etc.... my problem is that I haven't done anything to or with the canvas size window and its just sitting there glaring at me like im some kind of idiot LOL. What was I supposed to do with the canvas size window? I know its probably a dumb question but it has me stumped as I am a go step by step kinda guy. Thanks, David Quote
amazingkevin Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 (edited) Your further along than me with this patterning thing! But just guessing it might have to do with the project completed size???? Edited January 6, 2015 by amazingkevin Quote
Travis Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Did you type in your dimensions? Go to File>New and that will pop up a Create A New Image dialog box. This is where we'll set up our document dimensions... ...Make sure your units are in inches (pull-down menu next to the Height field. It's pixels by default). Then it's just a matter of typing in our dimensions (8" for the width, 10" for the height). Then type in your resolution: Click the + sign next to the Advanced Options. You'll see the X & Y Resolution fields there. Just change them from 72 to 150. Your settings should look the same as below. Are you just watching the video? Or are you looking at the written instructions too? You can find the written instructions here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/articles.html/_/pattern-making/gimp/ Let us know if you run into any other troubles. Dave-O 1 Quote
