qlty Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Just wondering how it is with you in your neck of the woods. Here in the burbs (long Island) New York at a big show last Sunday the crowd was all you could ask for my daughter does fine pottery and she placed some of my scroll work at her booth. My stuff did nada and hers sold ok but not great.Last year in November she did much better so I blame it on the economy.Just wondering how you folks find things? If you post please state your general area where you sell. Thanks John Quote
Vector01 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I concur...The state of the economy is making a big difference on how the public is spending their dollars. We have a craft show coming up the end of October (NE Connecticut). My wife and I are already "discounting" our items in anticipation. Since it will be close to home, if we break even it won't be a complete loss. Hopefully the exposure may lead to some commissioned pieces. Quote
greasemonkeyredneck Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 There are no craft shows close enough for me to travel to. I was selling a few pieces regularly though before the economy went into the crapper. I recently made another rocking motorcycle. I usually post them on craiglist and they are gone in a motter of a couple of days. I posted my last one a week ago and it's still sitting in my shop. I'm currently working on another one because I'm hoping the do sell closer to Christmas. Here in Mississippi though, the people I've talked to say they were poor enough before that they haven't noticed the economy though. I think they notice more than they think, because my sales have turned to oohs and ahs, but those don't put no food on the table, or presents under my tree in December. Quote
