courdorygirl Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 I believe most of the pattern makers use inkscape, which is an opensource graphic software. I think Travis has some tutorials in the University on how to create those types of patterns. (along with some beginners tutorials I found very handy) Quote

Travis Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 If you're looking to do portraits, GIMP is your best bet. You can find tutorials on how to do that here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/articles.html/_/pattern-making/gimp/ If you want something that's automatic, maybe Coyote Stencil Shop. It looks like it makes mixed results, though. But I've never used it, so I can't say for sure. Quote
sullyscroller Posted April 11, 2015 Report Posted April 11, 2015 Gimp is best as Travis said for portraits, but inkscape has some neat tricks that help to clean up your pattern. Both are free and there are tutorials that show how to work with both. sully Quote
