Roly Beautiful show of Irises Roly, you should be proud of that show. Or is it all the "BOSSES" work . I'm managing to catch up after a few days absence. Between getting some clocks made, 10 of them to be precise. Plus 4 wood and resin pendants. Also no broadband or phone which was due to the junction box getting flooded, annoying to put it mildly. Oh! and the computer monitor decided to self destruct. I won't bother buying a lottery ticket this week. The bird houses are very nice and no doubt a very nice price. Take care Roly and have a good weekend. Rob Roy. Quote

Rob Roy Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) I like the way you use up pen blanks they look great. Where did the clocks come from. Roly Got the clocks from Stiles and Bates, £6.60. Roly. A mate of mine gave me a load of pen blanks, but I don't have a lathe . I was asked to make a clock for a fisherman's birthday so I used the pen blanks, and the word spread and ended up making another 9 of the things and I've still got a load of pen blanks left. Padauk, Cocobolo, Ash, Elm Cherry and Olive. Padauk and Cocobolo are lovely but oh my,the dust from them is horrendous, it's like chili pepper. Kevin would like them . Oh and thanks for the favourable comments. Rob Roy. Edited May 30, 2015 by Rob Roy Quote

wombatie Posted May 31, 2015 Report Posted May 31, 2015 Beautiful colors in your Iris's. Every year I say I'm going to plant some and every year it never gets done. You version of the bird boxes will be a lot nicer than the M & S ones I am sure. Marg Phantom Scroller 1 Quote

Rob Roy Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 Great looking clocks Roy. Love the idea of using the pen blanks. I agree Padauk and Cocobolo are beautiful but the dust isn't. Forgot to ask were they all fish related clocks? Marg Thank you for your kind comments Marg much appreciated. They are the first things I've made since I b***ered up my arm. All ten were the same design. My daughter is manager in Spec Savers Opticians and the receptionist's husband's birthday was coming up. Tracy asked me if I could conjure up a fishing themed clock for him as a birthday gift. That was what I came up with. The gentleman concerned is a member of a few angling clubs in our area and the word seemed to have spread, hence the ten clocks. However I enjoyed making them and it got me off my lazy Butt. I'm glad the fish were just Trout and not some denizen of the deep or I would have needed something bigger than PEN BLANKS . Thanks again Marg. Take care and I hope it's not too COLD. Rob Roy. wombatie 1 Quote
