c_lang Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I came across this free editing software and thought I would try it out. What little I've played with it so far, I've liked it. It reminds me a little like Windows Paint, only better. Anyways, I thought I would post it here in case others would like to try it. When I get it all figured out I'll post a review on it unless someone already has it or tried it and is willing to post one. Or someone gets it and trys it out and can post a review before I get around to it. Anyways, here is the link to it. http://www.getpaint.net/ Quote
c_lang Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Okay, I played with this program and actually took a picture and made a pattern with it. The pattern I'll post in the new pattern. The picture using this program actually with the filters and effects it has made making this easy to make. It works a lot like gimp just easier and with the previews of each thing you do showing before you make it final allowed you to see what each thing you do or change you make looks like before you make it a final. Also, I like the idea that it seems to work with a step count so you can do one click back to a step you did from the last to the first step. The way I made the pattern was to change the picture into a ink drawing using one of the filter options and just played with it after turning the picture into B&W. On a scale from 0 to 10, being 10 as the highest, I would rate this program as a 6 maybe even 7, as I'm still playing with it. I would suggest this freebie software. I'm hoping someone else (HINT Travis ) will take a look at this software and give their opinion on it. The pattern I made with this program is of course a quickly done pattern, I only spent like 30 min. making it, it's of Dale Earnhardtt Sr. Out of this time I spent most of it was learning the program. I think the pattern turned out great. You can find it in the "New Patterns". Quote
Travis Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 I've been meaning to take a look at it for awhile now. I'm hoping after the first of the year, I'll put some tutorials about using it. Other than GIMP, its a very popular open-source software. It looks pretty good, but I haven't played with it yet. BTW. I removed the pattern of Dale Earnhardtt Sr. The NA$CAR folks are extremely protective of the Earnhardt portraits. They figured a way to trademark their images. Plus, they have a mean bunch of lawyers that I'd rather not meet. Sorry 'bout that. It turned out really well, though. Quote
c_lang Posted November 13, 2009 Author Report Posted November 13, 2009 Sorry about that Travis, I should've knew that, my bad. Glad you got to see it though so you could give a little comment on it as it was the first one I made with that program and also that you will be possiblly doing a tutor on the program. I will try and maybe do another picture and post it and make sure it's a picture I can post here. Again, sorry about that. Quote
Travis Posted November 13, 2009 Report Posted November 13, 2009 No worries. I'll see if I can download the program this weekend and play with it a bit. I'd imagine a tutorial wouldn't happen until after the first of the year, though. My work gets really busy this time of the year, plus Christmas compounds the extra work. But things calm down a lot in January. Quote
frieke Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 I have download the program and it works great! It's like the gimp program, but after changing the colors and curves and stuff, the picture is almost ready for use, i post a picture in new patterns anouncement. I made the pattern with the program, it will not be easy to cut because there a lot of cuttings, but i like a challenge. It's a mermaid i've done. Good program c_lang, thanks for sharing the link, Frieke Quote
c_lang Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 Glad to hear you like the program, I'm begining to like it myself more and more. You did a great job on the pattern you made. Quote
