Phantom Scroller Posted October 10, 2015 Report Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Thought I'd show the method for pen making in pics as I went for those who don't make them or have access to a lathe. On this one I used universal bushes it always best to buy the bushes to fit the pen, it's one of my favourite pass times as well as scrolling. Thanks for looking Roly PS; Majestic Squire pen in gold and rhodium Edited October 10, 2015 by Phantom Scroller amazingkevin and Docupton 2 Quote

Phantom Scroller Posted October 11, 2015 Author Report Posted October 11, 2015 Very impressive,I have my interest now! What kind of time frame is the start to finish for a project like this, please and thank you! Well good question Kev, how longs a piece of string. 1 Cut wood to size and drill hole to glue in copper tube to fit to bushes on mandrel. This operation depending on the glue you use could take over night or instance superglue half an hour to an hour 2. Turn it, about half an hour or less. 3. Sand 10 minutes going through rough to smooth micro pads. 4. Polish, 10 to 15 minutes depending on how many coats. 5. Assemble about 10 minute or less. All in a couple of hours depending how good you are every pen takes a different times depending on size and if you use wood or corian and if you have the proper equipment to hand. But hours not days. Hope this helps Roly Quote

Lucky2 Posted October 12, 2015 Report Posted October 12, 2015 Good looking pen Roly, I have about a hundred or so pen-kits stockpiled. I'll have to get around to turning them, one of these days. Hopefully, they'll look near as good as yours do. I find it hard to keep my interest in turning them up, I already have about thirty pens that I have no use for. I had close to fifty in the collection, but, I gave some away to family and friends. I don't know what I was thinking, when I bought so many pen-kits in advance. Len Quote
