Matthew Tuttle Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 (edited) I need some help. I am looking to make a Boy Scout intarsia. Copyrights shouldn't be an issue because there are a lot of the US logo for use commercially, free to share, and modify. This image was on the internet and was free to use and modify for any use. Thanks Matthew Edited February 19, 2016 by Travis logo removed Quote
Travis Posted February 19, 2016 Report Posted February 19, 2016 Unfortunately, the BSA is a private organization and the Boy Scout logo is indeed copyrighted and trademarked. You can find more information here. I've highlighted below the section that specifically prohibits the logo from 3rd parties. So SSV wouldn't be able to provide a pattern for you. With that said, the logo you posted is practically an Intarsia pattern already. What I'd do is enlarge the pattern, then with tracing paper, trace the logo as a line drawing. Then photocopy the tracing several times as you cut out individual pieces. That's how I'd approach it, anyway. Chachi111769 1 Quote

Messman Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Try contacting the the local district scouting office to get written permission to use the logo. It will probably be very specific in it's use, assuming they give you permission. Quote
