  1. That is a great idea for when you are cutting straight lines, I will have to keep that in my bag of tricks if I ever need to do something like that.
  2. Welcome aboard Azgilly, glad to have you here.
  3. Thanks meflick Thanks Denny
  4. Thanks Dave
  5. Hey there Marg. Thanks and you know you especially are always welcome. There are a couple of items, that were some of the first things that went on my desk. Stacy is using the Koala Bear and I am using the Country. They are still holding up after all these years.
  6. Yes I totally agree it's a lot of work, specially when I have to develop it from scratch.
  7. Thank you so much ChelCass
  8. Thanks Hawk
  9. Thanks Dan
  10. Well I am back once again. For those who remember me, Howdy once again, and I am glad I am back with the hopes to be actually active. For those who don't know me, Howdy to you and nice to meet ya. So to bring you up to speed on my first absence: Went through a divorce and a job change. I met a great gal and we both started driving a big rig together. We got married last year and bought a house with 15 Acres in North East Texas. We both have quit driving so we can spend time at home and develop our property into a homestead. So if you want to swing by and meet us, just let us know, there is plenty of room for a camper, tent, and we even have a spare room. (You will have to PM me to see about meeting us.) There is an excellent Bass Fishing lake just minutes from the house and a couple of camp grounds you can use as well. I have managed to get my stuff out of storage and I am also in the process of getting things set back up to start up my woodworking again, and I am planning on getting back into making patterns. I just need to get back into it slowly. While I probably wont be as active as I was the first time here (I was a former mod) I do plan on being active. Good to see you all, and have a great day. 11. That is awesome, This has always been one of, if not the best scrollers sites around because of it's people and the hard work Travis puts into it.
  12. Why thank you, Thank You Very Much.
  13. Thank you Denny.
  14. Marg how is it going? We have 3 of them. 2 ride in the truck with us as we criss cross the US.
  15. LOL I stop in as often as I can. I guess I should give a complete update over in the coffee house.
  16. I like that and I know my wife would love it. I may have to break down and buy that pattern once I get my stuff out of storage and get back to doing wood related stuff.
  17. Kevin howdy. I was here during the transition to ssv. But unfortunately not for long. I have not touched a saw since then. Another has happened over all these years to say the least. Hoping to get my stuff out of storage and a new shop set up soon and get back to getten
  18. Unless they have been removed there should be several patterns i have created here as well as pics of things I have done. Have not been able to go through things much yet to see what remains.
  19. Not so new, but I am back. Was a member and Mod back when SSV was first started. But life got in the way of things. But I am back and just wanted to say hi to everyone and let those who remember me know I am back.
  20. Almost all the blades I use are spirals. Yea I know I am an odd ball But yes use a slower feed rate and make sure they have a nice tight tension on them.
  21. Rusty, I don't remember the site (several years ago now). Myself and a couple of others tried to talk to the individual and he was, can't say what I want to as this is a family site, a complete butt about it. Sorcier, First off let me welcome you to the world of scrolling and to the Village. No you do not need to indicate the designer on the final project. If you use a pattern for free from a site like this one, it is a reasonable gesture (at least in my mind) to take a picture of the final project and post it on the site were you got the pattern from and thank / give the designer credit. And yes some designers do limit the use of their patterns. For example I have obtained permission from some photographers to use their work and have stated that my final patterns could only be used for personal use, or could be shared and that the final cutting could not be sold. So please make sure that you look at the pattern and any enclosed information that comes with it. Everyone, Remember designers work hard on the designs that they make for your use, again regardless if it is for free or paid for. A simple thank you to them, and like I said maybe a picture of the finished project goes a long way. In many cases it drives the designer to make more patterns. I know when I was getting the thank you and was able to see a picture, I was designing more patterns than I was cutting, just because it made me feel good to know that someone appreciated the work that went into the pattern I made. Please also remember that several of the patterns that are made take several hours to make. I know I have worked on patterns for several days in an attempt to get it right only to scrap it and try again. Sorry, I need to shut up and get off the soap box..LOL.
  22. I agree with what has been said. That was one of the reasons, I slowed the pattern making way down prior to me getting drowned in private issues that made me stop all together. Hoping I can get back into the swing of things, while I still have a lot of issues to deal with, but I am starting to get them under control. Will I be offering my patterns back up? Only time will tell. Pattern makers work hard at making their patterns regardless if they make their patterns to be sold or for free. Regardless if the patterns are free or purchased, they would like a little recognition and to see a picture of the cutting. This specially holds true for those who make them for free. Seeing the finished product not only makes them feel good about what they did but also allows them to improve their skills as they can see things in the final piece that could have been done better to make it look better. Chris
  23. I was approached a month or two ago by someone who does paper cutting and was requested to make a pattern for her. I can not share the pattern but I will share the picture she sent me of her completed work. So you can see first hand that for the most part the patterns are inter-changeable. (Sorry the picture is sideways)

  25. Arlene, Welcome to the village. I noticed that you live in Florida. I also live in Florida up in the pan handle. If you are close enough I have a saw that you can use, until you get a new one.. I live in Crestview, let me know. Chris
