zimmerstutzen Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I have been wondering about mixing skills. Such as a frame turned on my wood lathe to hold a multi layer scroll saw cut out pattern that functions as an illuminated piece. Another idea is how to incorporate pewter inlays in a turned bowl. Perhaps star patterns cut with a fret saw, fillin with pewter. Anyone do anything remotely akin? amazingkevin 1 Quote
Dan Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I've mixed wood and resin. Some folks have used wood and polymer clay. I'm sure there are more ideas floating around but that's all I can think of right now. Quote
Jim Finn Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I have mixed Wood working , wood turning , and leather working in making decrotive and functional fireplace bellows. I have also done some with images inlaid into the fronts. Quote

jbrowning Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I have started adding a some wood-burning to my scroll saw projects. I'm hoping that adds a little extra pizzazz to the end results. Jim Quote
Jim Finn Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Not mixed, but different, are the stars I make that I patterned after my wooden stars. I make them of metal. Still, I do make them in my woodshop. I bought a pan and box brake and made, and sold a few. I usually make boxes with images inlaid into the hinged lids but this past week I had a request to make a larger box, no inlay, and no scroll saw involved. Made it of rosewood. Delivered it yesterday. I have also inserted tooled leather into the front of boxes. Still boxes but no scroll saw. Quote
