Ken O Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 Haven't done much on the scroll saw the past few months but I do have some orders for about 20 trophies for a couple model boat clubs around the country. The reason I've been away from the saw is I built a 1/6 scale RC boat last year. It ran very well so I made molds off it over the winter. I've made 2 boats from the molds so far. One went to the Seattle area, the second one is mine. It is made of all carbon fiber using resin infusion. Here are a couple videos of me laying the material and the infusion process. The whole boat weighs 7 lbs compared to 12 lbs for the wood one, not including motor and everything else. Should get this one on the water this Friday weather permitting. I already have 2 more on order and the first one hasn't hit the water yet. Infusion process starts at 4:30, unless you want to watch me adjust the bag ... Quote
amazingkevin Posted May 18, 2016 Report Posted May 18, 2016 Whoa!!! :thumbs:That's what i want to see! All the time you've been into in board remote control model boats I've waited for the chance to see your close up work !I'll bet your up ,at night with a slide rule cutting corners ,lighting the load ,tweaking the rpm .You've come a long way in this field working with top contenders at school on a full size carbon fiber boat. You've payed the piper now it's your turn to be the one to follow race after race for tips and tricks .I'll start looking at model boat magazines as i go to the book stores anticipating "kEN-O" whomps the heat again with his secret weapon 2 stroke rice burning flame thrower.Mile high rooster tails mark the path of winner leading by half a track length.his lighter than air mark 5 speeds are unheard of.Keep us posted and stack up the trophy's.It's your turn now!
