Chickadee work in progress

This is a donation I am working on for a local land preservation foundation. It will auctioned I am not sure live or silent in September.

I still have a bit of fitting to do and then mount it on a natural edge bass wood slab. the parts are just loosely laid out in this photo so many of the gaps will go away.

The original design was by Janette Square but I changed the Chickadee

 

The woods I used are:

Cap and beak  Wenge

Eye Ebony polished. Hard to see, I will post a better picture when it is done.

Head Holy

Wings Blue pine

Branches Cedar

Leaves Lignum Vitae ( Iron wood)

I like seeing the darker colors for a change in intarsias Very well done

I thought I had commented on this before - maybe tone other forum we are on. Either way - it looks great. Thanks for sharing your photo, I like seeing how others do their sanding/shaping and wood selections. I am sure it will be well received in the auction. Do let us know how the auction goes.
