Cedar Post Lamp

Since I started turning post vases, I've wanted to try a few as lamps. Finally got the lamp kit and had to try it. No turning on this one as it was the top of the post. Post and feet are 100 year old Montana Cedar post pieces, and the base is oak. I really like the look, but that's just me.

Tim, it's a good looking lamp, you did a great job making it. I have a question, have you ever tried using barn boards for the base?

I've thought about using some of the old barnwood I have as a base, but I don't know if its in good enough shape to hold up. I also haven't quite figured out the best way to hide the freshly sawn edges. But its definitely something i'm thinking about.
