I thought I'd have a go at something a little bit different tonight. I used AutoCad to draw the shapes and the lines through the middle. My plan was to cut the outer Octagon to give me a flat base. Then cut the same on another piece and cut around the whole coloured area too. Gluing the 2 together would give a raised frame with a base in the middle. Then I'd cut out the individual coloured pieces to give me a 10 piece puzzle to try and arrange inside the octagon frame. The colours are just to help with cutting, If all the pieces are the same colour then the puzzle could be a bit of challenge as they would look the same either way up.

What's your thoughts? My explanation could probably be better but I hope you can see what I'm trying to explain?

All opinions welcome and feel free to give it a go.

Thanks

That's the idea. If I was to draw the shapes freehand then they may be too easy to put back in, but splitting it into small areas first means that a lot of the angles on the pieces will be vey similar and not so easy to replace.

Thanks for the comments ;)

Thats right. From the original pattern, simply using "bucket fill" in the drawing programme you can make it as complicated as you wish. I have a brother-in-law who loves stuff like this. I'll be making a really difficult one for him! Just to keep him busy :sneak::lol:

Glad you like it!
