heppnerguy Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Timmy from New Zealand helped me with a pattern question and I asked him which program he used for pattern making and he told me he used.Paint.net. i downloaded it and made this pattern with it. The photo was not very good so i am not very happy with the results. but I do have to say that I do like the program as it has some features that I like pretty well. I will continue to try to learn it along with the GIMP I have been using, until I make a decision as to which program I end up making my 'go to' program Dick heppnerguy lawson56 1 Quote
worbler Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Dick, I'm from Australia, not New Zealand. That would be like me saying your from Mexico, no offence to the Mexicans or the Kiwi's. Apart from that, good pattern. Just keep playing around with whatever software you can get and you might stick to just one or use many. Keep up the good work. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote

Sorry, I really did not know there were feelings about New Zealand like that. I will not make that mistake again, promise. I lost my layers and that screwed up my pattern making here. I need to look at the program a little closer Dick heppnerguy Quote
worbler Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Can't say I've ever bothered with layers when doing a pattern in any program. They are great for tracing I guess, might have to try doing that. Quote

I like the layers because if you find you have messed up something you can compare easily with the original and go back and forth between the two without actually changing anything..I don't feel tracing is making, but being able to see how you are comparatively doing, does seem to help me in my infancy of pattern making. Perhaps later I will feel otherwise. not sure at this point . Thank you for your help my Australian friend Dick heppnerguy Dave Monk 1 Quote
