pattern request for a oldie

I have a picture given to me to try and make a portrait in wood. I have tried 2 different programs to try and make a pattern with no success. This is a really old picture I realize and am trying my darnest to help a friend out but almost ready to tell her no but I thought I had better ask the professionals at it if it can be done as you all do more than me. Any suggestions or if you can make me one that would be great as its her 65th birthday Im trying to make apattern to make. Thanks

Boy layer the two on top of each other and i'll bet it pops or a little pencil work and there you have it!

Thanks for trying Ill try to get something out of the first one but quite a long shot to make it into anything. Ill see what I can do or get another picture which is more clear.My two tries  wernt any better either.I think Im fighting a losing battle.

OK, I had another go at it and the lines are still rough. I'm not too sure I want to try and clean them up, I like the way it is. I used a few different programs to get it to this stage and it's as good as I'm going to get it.
