Rob Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 This is my first attempt at turning Corian. It turns easily and finishes well. I will have to try and find a local source of scraps. Rob 125 CSL, don watson, MTCowpoke22 and 1 other 4 Quote
merlin Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Dang that's Bloody nice Rob........Wood like to find some also..................... Personally....I'm not a fan of the thin center pens............... Rob 1 Quote
Rob Posted May 11, 2017 Author Report Posted May 11, 2017 Thanks Merlin. I think you are right, with the slimline kits you either do a very thin straight pen or you end up with the narrow waist like this one. I still have more slimline kits to work through but next time will order something different. BTW, Native Pens have 20% off this weekend.... Rob Quote
merlin Posted May 11, 2017 Report Posted May 11, 2017 Thanks got the email..................... Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted May 12, 2017 Report Posted May 12, 2017 Yes Rob good first corian pen I remember my first one a bit scared to turn too thin in case it blow apart. The trick is to take time and not to much pressure then use the very fine pads to take the marks out I also used a corian worktop polish to buff it up to a shine.Have fun. Roly Rob 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted May 12, 2017 Report Posted May 12, 2017 Looks nice. Keep in mind you do not have to use a center band at all or you can make your own the size you want. Center bands do not need to be metal either. Wood, a contrasting color of corian, etc will work fine. Rob 1 Quote
JOE_M Posted May 12, 2017 Report Posted May 12, 2017 I like my slimlines to be straight and slim, but I see a lot of people make them like yours. I do like the way the corian turned out though - I don't see any scratches in the finish. Do you use a spindle gouge, skew or scraper? Rob 1 Quote

Thanks Joe, I used an oval skew then wet sanded to 12,000 grit, Rob Quote
