I use a Watcom drawing tablet.. that said it's quite old.. but I would think most any newer equipment / software would work with windows 10 now.. I used to have an expensive version of corel draw.. I never upgraded the software and when windows 10 came out.. it worked at first.. but ended up crashing and actually crashed my computer and I lost a lot of my patterns from this..

Knowing what I know now.. you don't need expensive drawing software just to create patterns.. 98% of the options in corel... I never used or even knew what they was.. Depending on the type of patterns you looking to do.. for me.. I use two different ones.. and flip flop back and forth between the two.. mainly because in Gimp ( maybe I don't know how to use it correctly ) doing text work is clunky and not all that user friendly.. but I like it for doing portrait to pattern type patterns..

My advice is to choose one of the free downloads of gimp, or inkscape and maybe some of the others.. play around with what one is the most user friendly to you.... But I don't think its a wise idea to spend big money on any drawing software.. and also the drawing tablet.. well I love it.. but yet.. a lot of my work I do ( which isn't much ) I rarely actually use the thing..

I ended up with getting the low end wacom tablet and just from taking it out of the box and setting it up. I say it's going to work. It comes with software however, I've not used it yet nor plan on using it. With this laptop I have it came with windows ink and I have the two main free software that a lot use and it works with both of them as well. I still have to get over the learning curve from using a mouse to draw to using the tablet and pen. I love the fact that with the wacom it has online tutorials. That's what my weekend plans are for this weekend. I will spend some of the weekend using the tutorials and learning how to use this tablet and all the functions of it. I've already used it to draw a quick drawing of stick people with some background. That was my test. For others that are interested in getting a drawing pad. This one was the $79 tablet. I will admit it is small however, it is only  the pad. Your drawing will show up on your screen so it's big enough to do what you need to do.

I want to thank everyone for the advice and thoughts on this subject.

Happy Scrolling & Designing if you do that!
