How do you get rid of the text double spacing

Seems I'm the only one doing it

What do I have to change to get the text back to normal

I know the answer is simple and right in front  of me

but I can't straighten out

Thanks

Hey Pete:

I resemble those remarks - I'll stay with one liners until I find a solution - - - Fab4

Does it happen when you hit enter at the end of a line of text?

I often hit enter after each sentence.

And that usually looks like double spacing.

If you type on and on and on, for a long long time and just get to the end of the line will it still be double spaced? I am trying to figure out how I can make this sentence longer so I will just keep rambling on and on and on to see if it goes to double spacing?

Hi, Paul,

It looks like Mrs. N.'s post do that also and mine have been doing it for a long time but,
for some reason, if I hit the shift key and then enter to go to the next line, it is then
single spaced.
No rhyme or reason but, more computer technology.

Paul,  you must have your settings set-up to do this, did you check to see what your settings are set on? Does it only do that on this site, or is it the same on others as well? Does it happen when you try typing a regular letter? If it does, it's how you have your settings set-up. I understand why it was happening to Katie (MrsN), it was  because she was using the enter button when she shouldn't have been. Instead of hitting the enter button, she should have just kept typing to the edge of the page. Another issue with your postings and getting double spacing, could be because of lack of puncuation. If you would use a period or comma every so often, and then type to the edge of the page, your issue should be solved, hopefully. I'm sorry if you think I'm getting to personal by criticizing your typing, that is not my intention. I am only trying to help solve your issue, no criticism is intended.

Generally, there's a double spacing between paragraphs, it makes it easier to realize the subject is changing. If you hit the enter button before the script your typing reaches the edge of the page, you will get double spaced. It's how computers are set up for proper puncuation. If you hit the enter button before you reach the end of the page with your script, the computer thinks you're starting a new paragraph. When it gets that notion, it automatically double spaces.

Thank you all for the replies.

Looks like Katie(MrsN) hit the nail on the head - Just have to stay away from the  ENTER key and keep typing and all is well.

Hi Katie:

See Bob's(Spirithorse) reply -
It works and I will be going with this from now on

Fab4  (just gotta remember to hold the shift key before I hit enter)

Hi Bob
Thanks for your reply, your way works as well, I like it

lol, Paul, I know I did, and it just about drove me crazy trying to figure out the proper way to spell it. Even after I went to bed, I was still thinking about how to spell it properly. I finally convinced myself that no one would notice it, obviously, I WAS WRONG. I should have just looked up how to spell it, but I don't normally check on how to spell anything. Good catch!
