Ok great pattern makers you are awesome. These intersecting word patterns seem to be a big seller . I posted a picture of the last ones I finished and got a order for  one more. . I will let her pick what pattern she wants if I get more than one. Thank you.

Mimi - since you are selling your items and getting more and more requests for these personalized intersecting word art patterns, I would highly recommend that you take some time to look at Travis' video on how to create them.  That way you can easily make your own as you need and continue to get more orders.  In the video he uses Inkscape, you may already have it but if you don't, it's free to obtain. However, it can also be done just as easily with other programs. It really is not too difficult - it will just take you a little time to watch and learn from the video.  You can find it on his Youtube channel here:

and you can find the thread that discusses this here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/12658-word-art-intersecting-word-art-with-inkscape/

Also, if you or someone else uses Photoshop, Fishman put together a written tutorial on doing the same time thing in Photoshop.  It can be found here:

Couple of things to consider is the fonts to use - Travis uses Times New Roman for the last name, and Birds of Paradise for the first names.  If you don't have Birds of Paradise, you can find it for free on dafont here: https://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=Birds+of+Paradise Dafont is a good source to get fonts without worrying about other things being "packaged" with them. You are by no means limited to those two fonts, you can use any two fonts that you want.  Most seem to think you want to use a Block type font for the bigger word/last name and a script style font for the intersecting small inside word(s)/first name(s).

Why don't you watch the video and give it and try and if you are still having problems let us know and we can try to figure out where you are having trouble understanding how to create these for yourself. I know this was not the quick "answer" with patterns that you might want - but I am a firm believer in teaching a person to fish rather then to simply keep providing the fish over and over. :)

I have watched the video a few times I was going to try and do it. I still have to download ink scape. I guess I could try tonight and see how it goes. I am very surprised how well people like these. As I was walking into work to give these to my co-worker a parent saw them and is also thinking of getting one . so I guess I should learn. Thanks for the inspiration. will let you know how it goes. and will post if I have any problems.

Mimi (and anyone else looking to download Inkscape), make sure you download it directly from their home site to ensure that nothing else is "packaged with it" that you may not want added to your computer.  The home site for Inkscape is found here: https://inkscape.org/en/

I too have watched the  video about a dozen times, I have paused Travis' video and do the steps and follow along like that. I can get so far and it seems that Travis goes so fast and doesn't tell what tools he is using so I'm lost.
I have Jerry's written instructions and have tried going just by that. I get almost to the end and the point where you pick the red word after you have moved the red word and the gray word onto the larger word. Nothing happens.
I feel like such a dummy that I can't figure this out
HELP!!!!!

1. Open Inkscape.

2. Create some text.

3. Press F1 on your keyboard for the selection tool.

4. On the Menu Bar select Path and then Object to Path.

5. Now select Object, on the Menu Bar, and then click on Ungroup. Go back to Path and select Union.

6. Create some more text, and go through the 5 steps above.

7. Press Ctrl+D on your keyboard to Duplicate the text. Now Drag the duplicated text down the page. Even though you can't see it, it is actually there. Just click and drag it somewhere else.

8. After dragging the top Text out of the way, go back to the original, with the selection tool, and select it.

9. On the keyboard press Ctrl+J, for the Dynamic Offset mode. Look for the little diamond at the height of the text and drag it up a little. Press Shift+F7 to choose the paint bucket and fill with a colour of your choice, like Red.

10. Drag the duplicated text over the top of the coloured Offset text. Highlight both by dragging the mouse over both. Make sure all of both are in the selection when doing this.

11. Press Shift+Ctrl+A on your keyboard and under Align select center Vertical and Horizontal, they are the 3rd icons on each line of Align.

12. Drag the 2 selected texts over the top of the original text to where you think you would like them to sit. When you are happy with their position, click in the free White space on the page.

13. Using the selection tool, click on the coloured offset text, you will see the colour in the bottom left of the screen change. Now, holding in the Shift key, select a Black part of the original text.

14. On your keyboard press Ctrl+ -, or go to Path and select Difference. The coloured offset will seemingly disappear and you'll be left with Text in Text.

15. Go to the menu bar again and select File and then Export PNG Image. On the right of the page will be information about the export. Tell you computer where you would like to export the image to and what to call it. When that is done, click the Export button. You can now edit your image further if you wish.

Just found this out you all may know about already but for me it is an easy way to set the offset the same every time.

After you select dynamic offset you set the offset the same everytime by :

from Edit menu
XML editor

new window opens on right side select inscape:radius
then you can type in the offset in the bottom right box and
click Set

I start off with 8
