I am with most on this. The natural one looks best. If you want to add colour, you could do some "dry brushing" on the lion only. That would add hints of colour only.

I think I saw your post on FB. If it is what I am thinking, nice pattern. I use 3/4 so it can be shaped more drastically than thinner. On FB you were asking about the backer. I have done some narrow areas with a backer. I feel that if the piece is hanging, it should be fine. Thinking if my Heron piece, if you want to look back.

I would be suggesting an Intarsia piece. Sunflower, bee, something like that.

I wonder if someone with a 3d printer could print this for you? BTW, the thumb screws are probably not set right which would cause the bending the tips of the blades.
