A long time ago when I was refinishing antiques I would distress by banging with keys, or a small ball head hammer. I would then use steel wool and vinegar solution. It takes a lot of experimenting depending on the type of wood. There are lots of videos on this topic. Inspired by a Wood turner that showed an acorn birdhouse I thought I could do that. Version ! - I glued a piece of walnut to a piece of ash. Cut and it was close but there is a 1/6 inch of the top showing on the bottom. Not good enough for me as I think the pattern not lined up to the wood. Version 2. I glued a piece of cherry and poplar. This time I cut the pattern between the top and bottom and was careful to make sure lined up square. Not happy here as the difference was even more. I think I must of not cut exactly on the line or the blade bent. Not happy yet. FINAL VERSION. I am happy with result. i cut the pattern between the top and bottom and glued separately cut each separately. Because I was concerned about not being able to clamp I put in dowel.

Love the idea of putting on the names versus the initials. I have the pattern sitting on my to do file and this gives me some inspiration. Well done.

For just over $100 (CAD) how can you go wrong. I had a similar sander that I bought used and it died from over use. When I went to replace it I bought a 12 inch disc only at Busy Bee and I wonder why I never had one before. Enjoy and keep up the good work.

I have a friend near me (Brooklin Ontario) that has made these for me as Steve didn't ship to Canada. He has also made them for other friends. Below are some examples, The one that shows 9 is different sizes but I have only ever use the 1 inch one. The other are the image only that I designed in Inkscape and he converts for the laser.
