kmmcrafts Posted February 6, 2018 Report Posted February 6, 2018 So a while back JT was looking for info on printers.. I bragged up about my Epson 7610.. and never had any issues with it in 3 years.. shortly after replying to that thread.. My colors was printing off color from normal.. I didn't think much of it as this is the same time my son and I built this new computer.. I just thought maybe a setting was off on this new computer.. Anyway had to print from my old computer the other night and that one printed the same.. Got to investigating and the printer head is clogged up I believe.. Now.. I've always had HP inkjet printers.. Never had any issues such as this.. the reason I even bought new printer was the software wouldn't work on the newer versions of windows.. same thing with my printer before that one, LOL.. Doing some snooping online.. it seems this is a common problem with Epson printers.. One thing I found is that they say you need to print 2-3 times per week otherwise the ink dries up in the print head.. I do print quite a lot either printing packing slips, shipping labels, or patterns.. and I use color for my packing slips.. but apparently not enough color in that the one color nozzle that's clogged may not even be used for the colors I use on my packing slips.. Now I've read online and watch a couple videos on how to clean this.. and how to make your own cleaning solutions etc.. I went and bought a kit.. just so I could have a stronger cleaner ( this color isn't printing at all..) as my print head I believe is completely clogged.. plus the kit comes with some cleaning tools that I can re-use with my own solution next time ( if there is a next time) .. I've only ever had 3 printers in my life.. first one was a HP ? from 1996-7 to 2006 when I upgraded to a new computer and windows.. then I bought another HP model 5180 that I used until I upgraded to windows 10 a year after that came out.. I may go back to a HP when I need to replace this one.. Anyway, anyone else here ever experience this? Maybe it's just a common thing with newer printers? Quote

Yes all my epsons will do this if I let it run out of ink. Then in the maintenance part of the printer, it lets you clean the heads .Works good! Quote

Yeah, well...I've run the cleaning thing 2-3 times.. with not results yet. I read that doing this uses a lot of the ink too.. so I'll wait until this cleaning kit comes in the mail amazingkevin 1 Quote
Dan Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 I've had Epson, Kodak, HP, and other ink jets. We are on our last one for that very reason. They all clog. Next up will be a laser printer. Quote
kmmcrafts Posted February 10, 2018 Author Report Posted February 10, 2018 Okay, almost too embarrassed to say what happen to my printer, Hahaha.. I recently within the last month changed the blue color ink... and that just so happen to be the one that was plugged.. I bought this special cleaner and still couldn't get it to work.. looked at a few videos about how to clean the bottom part of the head so I did that twice.. while doing some other looking I noticed that I never pulled the sticker off the vent hole.. so then I got the blue working finally.. but then the yellow and red color stopped.. I ran the cleaner so many times in doing all this that all the new inks was almost empty... which put me into a situation of... do I buy ink again and try to get the other colors going again or do I just get anther printer, LOL.. I ended up soaking the ports top and bottom at the same time while I was in town most of the day.. come home with the new ink put it back together and she's running great again.. While I was in town I had picked out another printer that also used the same ink.. so if it didn't work I had a plan for the ink anyway.. But the bad part is.. all this because I left that sticker over the vent hole.. bet I never forget that one again Quote
