Dan Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I wanted to try some of Diana Thompson's mini birdhouses on the lathe. Here are my first results. I can do them faster on the scroll saw but the turned ones has a different appeal. The birds are still scrolled, of course. The woods are, from left to right, spalted maple, black cherry, persimmon, and black cherry. All were dipped in blo mix. The two birds are from box elder. I'll be making more of these as well as scrolled ones. Oh, sorry for the shadows. I'm getting lazy at the camera. meflick, Lucky2, Roberta Moreton and 1 other 4 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I love making turned birdhouses and in fact I need to make some more for the fall. Yours look good. thanks for showing. Quote
Dan Posted March 10, 2018 Author Report Posted March 10, 2018 Thanks John. I have about 50 scrolled birdhouses. I think I'll make more and do a craft show or two in the fall. Quote
Scrappile Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 I wonder which are more popular at the craft shows, turned or scrolled. I like them both ways and have turned quite a few. Yours look great!. Quote
Dan Posted March 10, 2018 Author Report Posted March 10, 2018 Thanks Paul. I like them both turned and scrolled. I'm not sure which would be better sellers but I hope to find out. Quote
Gonzo Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 They look very nice Dan! Good question about which would be a better seller, turned or scrolled. I'm gonna have to turn a few and find out. Quote
