Hawk Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I'm hoping someone has a trick to this problem. On my oscillating spindle sander I'm trying to get new drums on the rubber insert, having major issues getting them all the way on. HELP!!!!!! Thanks, Chris Quote
oldhudson Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I rub a baking powder on the rubber insert. Works for me. Quote
tgiro Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I've used powder to make them slide easier. I hold the sleeve and keep tapping the end of the drum on the bench until it is fully seated. I use a glove on my hand, holding the sleeve. Keeps the skin on my hand. Quote
Dan Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 Like the others have said. Also, you could try putting the rubber in the freezer for a few hours. If it shrinks enough it may work. meflick 1 Quote
wedo scroll Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 I don't know if you have tried switching the sleeve end for end. Sometimes one end is tighter than the other. Quote
spirithorse Posted March 12, 2018 Report Posted March 12, 2018 Does this type of rubber cylinder have a nut or a screw that you can tighten which expands the rubber to make it tighter on the sanding sleeve? If so, you have to loosen that nut or screw completely to make the diameter of the rubber as small a possible before sliding the sleeve on. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
