Vector01 Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Couple of the neighbors got together to set up a neighborhood yard sale. They asked if we would interested. My wife said sure and went to our storage to grab some stuff. Along with her odds and ends she had her hand made jewelry to sell. I figured what the heck...I'll put out a few scroll portraits. I really didn't think this would be the best venue for these items. Well it ran two days (SaT & Sun). I sold 4 pieces today and received an order for two more. The sales were to people from out of town visiting relatives. The orders came from a couple of neighbors. I was shocked to say the least. Now I'm only $600.00 dollars short for my new Excaliber EX21 scroll saw I still have the craft fair in town next month. I've got to replace the sold pieces and add a few more for the fair. I should do much better at the craft fair (hopefully). My wife did really well. I'm thinking of hitting her up for a loan She sold a lot of junk (literally). The scroll pieces that sold were the native american and the twighlight characters. I was aked about religious pieces but I didn't have any cut. Quote
Oges Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Well done, and best of luck for the craft fair. I need to get motivated and try to show/sell some things at a stall one day.. Quote

amazingkevin Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Hello art ,It's hit and miss no matter what. Everybody loves what i show them but i'm showing to the wrong crowd. They are as poor as me.Now that i'm spending most of my time with intarsias i'm getting further from the money as intarsias costs alot more. But they sure look good on my wall, lol.I need to remember that unshown is un sold.Tomorrow i'll take the scrolled parrot and see if i get a taker .It was three times the work of the pelican and they know the pelican was $40.Wish i could have seen your face when you sold the portraits and got orders for more.!IT's those's one in a million that make it all worth while.Keep on keepin on!Can i borrow your excaliber when it come's,lol Quote
Russ-C- Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Congrats Vector, Nothing like the smell of money from a sale. LOL Quote
greasemonkeyredneck Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Now I'm only $600.00 dollars short for my new Excaliber EX21 scroll saw . If you're going to dream you may as well dream big, huh? Seriously, from the time I really got interested in scrolling I've said I want an excaliber. I even devised a plan to save so much at a time and could tell you to the day how long before I got my excaliber (the time frame always worked out to a rediculous amount of years). Well recently I got the chance to spend about an hour on an excaliber (first time actually seeing one besides pictures). I met with a local woodworker. Yes, other woodworkers exist in my area. Who'da thunk it? I explained to him my dream of owning one of those fine machines. He told me they were nice to have but that I should spend a little time on the machine before dropping that kind of dough. To make the long he said I said story short, I wound up spending about an hour on his excaliber. I can quite saving money now. Don't get me wrong, it's a fine machine. So is a Cadillac compared to my old Chevy but that doesn't mean I'm saving money for one of those. It's a great piece of machinery, yes. Is it worth the pricetag, not in my opinion. Quote
