Handi Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Hello everyone, Long time no chat lol. Been awhile since I've posted. Been in and out from time to time thou checkin in. Been gettin the house in order and playin around with my Lathe a little to get the hang of that. Anyway, the reason for this post is a NON Woodworking, Scrollsawing Post. My Son is in his 4th Year (webelo) for cub scouts and this year they've decided to do some of their fundraiser online, so before I get to that, let me explain a little about the fundraiser incause some of you may not have children or grandchildren in the scouts. At least here, Scouts has only ONE Fundraiser. And this is Popcorn. Several different verietys of popcorn. And this is what they sale to get patches, building rentals for special ocassions and dinners, uniforms and many other things. It also helps with low income people that wish to get their child into scouts so they only have to pay a min amount. Anyway, this year, my Son is going to be runnin around town locally with my or mom's assistance to take some orders, and it's basically my Job as a Computer Nut or Guru whatever ya wanna call it to deal with the Online Community, so I've posted all over on my blog's a few woodworking forums and this is my last stop. I hope y'all don't mind the intrusion of promoting my Sons popcorn sales, but the local scouts could really use the money for these things. Anyway if you click here http://www.trails-end.com/estore/scouts/email_referral.jsp?id=8665846 you can goto my Sons popcorn site and check out what kind of popcorn the scouts offer and maybe purchase some, and send the link to your friends and family as well to help support the Scouts and their good Deeds! I've got my boy in it right now, I'm in a Chair, so I never had the opportunity to join or do things in Scouts, but my boy is in it and he loves it. Next weekend here in Indiana, we have this Event Every Year called "Civil War Days" Where they Re-enact the Civil War. And he will be camping at the Civil War Camp to earn some of his Camping Patches I do beieve, He'll learn how to gather wood, start fires without matchs and cook some food. It's the reason why I was promoting his popcorn sales, it helps them get their patchs, badges, events like this and whatever else is needed. And being low income, it also helps with recruiting new scouts for people that are low income that needs help with assistance for getting uniforms and all. Quote

Amazingkevin, I was never in the Scouts. My Boy carved a car out of soap last year when he was a Bear Scout. I Provided all of the Kids with a Scrollsawed Wooden knife for a Donation to the Scouts to help with Knife Safty. The design was based on Steve Goods Design from The Scrollsaw Workshop Blog. And they loved it. They had a Grand time using them and learning Safty. Quote
