Devin Wilson Posted September 5, 2018 Report Posted September 5, 2018 Hey guys I work at a school was hoping to make custom ornaments for all the teachers and staff and a few students. Does anyone have a simple pattern or template that is easy to change the letters around. I've messed around with inkscape a little but having issues getting anything that looks nice. I know some people do them for a couple bucks a piece but with around 75 teacher & staff members it would add up pretty quick. Quote
jerry1939 Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 If you are not comfortable with Inkscape, find any ornament pattern that has room for a name. Make 1 copy for as many gifts that you want. Use something like Microsoft Word to print each name. Glue them onto your ornaments. Take a pencil & scribble the bridges that you cannot cut. IF the names lift off of the pattern while cutting, run them through the copy machine again. Crude, but you should be able to make it work. Good luck Friend. jerry amazingkevin, John B and jollyred 3 Quote
John B Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 G'day Devin, Steve Good has an idea here, I reckon you could change the teddy bear for a Christmas scene .http://www.stevedgood.com/teddyframe.pdf Steve also has a few programmes for making stencils etc which you may be able to incorporate.http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/ amazingkevin 1 Quote

don in brooklin on Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 Steve Good always does his personalized ornaments each year. They are $1 each min $5. He has a new design each year. With teacher's name they tend to be long so they may not fit if you can't use first names. I have made key chains for all the teachers at the school that my daughter is the principal of. Great success. I get to where I average 4 per hour. Don Quote
Jennifer Moon-Child Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 I usually just print the names out in the font and size I want to cut them in, using a word processing program. I take a red pen and mark the letters so they are cuttable, then I cut them out with scissors and scotch tape them onto the pattern. If you are cutting the names in a smaller size and a more difficult font, I recommend doing the trickier letters first. I do all the lower case a's first, then the e's, o's, and s's, d's, b's, and so on. That way you're less likely to mess up an ornament you've put a lot of time into. Quote
