Does that red insert come out of your table?  If so take it out, cut a new one that will fit the hole, and drill a small hole in the center of it for the blade to go through.  That will give your wood support and it will not break as easily.  It is called "Zero Clearance" inserts.  Another method is to tap a plastic card over the existing insert, something like an old credit card, put a hole in it for the blade to go through.  This a more temporary way to give support to your work piece.
