Rockytime Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 Really cool knob on the upper clamp! OCtoolguy 1 Quote
kmmcrafts Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 Now that's a old one... looks nice though.. not variable speed.. this would be like the Hawk you had years ago Ray with the speed changing by changing the belt to different pulleys.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 Humm, why do you say it is not variable speed? Says 220VS model. I thought the VS stood for Variable Speed and I think I see a dial knob by the on/off switch on the side. I do not know much about these saws, so I am probably wrong. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

Well that's odd.. you are correct after looking at the pictures better and seeing the tag.. The info they filled in on the right of the pages says Hawk 220-3 which would be a three speed.. but the saw itself says VS as you pointed out.. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 I did not look at that when I saw the pictures,, Ray, you had better ask what they mean? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted October 12, 2018 Report Posted October 12, 2018 (edited) A handle like that can apply way more torque than needed on a blade clamp. May have been someone with poor hand problems. That handle is for the hold down foot now that I look at it. I did not recognize it because that is the first thing I took off all my saws. That is a thing that I never could understand. Yes, now that I look again at it, I see that it is a VS model. Even the number plate says so. Not sure what the other stuff meant. I just sent an email to the seller questioning him about it. Probably just a miscommunication when he was editing his ad. Edited October 13, 2018 by octoolguy Quote
OCtoolguy Posted October 13, 2018 Author Report Posted October 13, 2018 I am in touch with the seller. She tells me that her husband bought the saw for her 20 years ago. I just wrote to Bushton but of course, it's Saturday. Anyway, can any of you Hawk owners tell anything about this saw. She says it is a variable speed and is confused as to how that listing info got there. She says it's in excellent operating condition and just wants to try another type saw. I might bite on this one if I can gather enough info on it. Quote
OCtoolguy Posted October 13, 2018 Author Report Posted October 13, 2018 OMG!!! I just got a return email from Nilus at Hawk. I can't believe it. On Saturday no less. Anyway, he tells me that the saw has the Fasco motor and that is the one that is troublesome. So, I guess it's not one to mess with unless I can steal it. Oh well............. Quote

That is the one thing Hawk owners can not tell you and I would not have know that. They made so many different motors improving as they went. It is a good thing you talked to them. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
