I always use Titegbond wood glue, most of the time Titebond II.  A few years ago I wrote quite a bit about a wooden gear clock. It's run in my shop all the time. Last week it stopped. Upon examination one of the leavers that are part of the weight ratcheting control CAME UNGLUED. The part was in good shape so I cleaned the joint and re-glued with hide glue. 

It's the lever on the right when viewing the pic. The other is fine.  Lots of ??????????
