Ptofimpact Posted January 12, 2019 Report Posted January 12, 2019 I belong to another woodworking website, NCWW, and they have yearly raffles to raise funds, with Items donated. As a rule I never win things, but this past year they pulled one of my tickets, and Won a Moving Fillister plane Circa 1823 - 1853 . Havent used it for anything yet, thought someone would enjoy seeing it. amazingkevin, meflick, Phantom Scroller and 4 others 6 1 Quote
JimErn Posted January 12, 2019 Report Posted January 12, 2019 Interesting plane. Took me a minute to figure out the added adjustable "plank" on the bottom of it - great idea. I rarely use one anymore, but it makes me wonder why that is not something included in todays planes. My oldest plane is, best I we can figure, circa 1940's congrats on winning Ptofimpact 1 Quote
RabidAlien Posted January 12, 2019 Report Posted January 12, 2019 Nice!!! I have some of my wife's grandfather's old planes, most of them are Sears' vintage from the 50's and 60's, up into the 80's, and so beat up I don't even know where to begin cleaning them! Ptofimpact 1 Quote
Bill WIlson Posted January 14, 2019 Report Posted January 14, 2019 They're still making these. As for restoring old bench planes, look for blogs and/or YouTube videos from names like Rob Cosman, Paul Sellers or Chris Schwarz. There are many others, but these guys are pretty good sources to start with. Ptofimpact, RabidAlien and JimErn 3 Quote
