scrolln99 Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 Hello everyone, just wondering if you guys think that this picture is possible to make in a pattern. I'm fairly new to pattern making and I have made a few using GIMP. But this one I had trouble with. So just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks, martin. Quote

Yes, it can be done, but it will not be easy. First you need to increase and process the photo, so that there is more contrast. scrolln99 and Birchbark 2 Quote
Birchbark Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 It could be done, any picture can be made into a pattern, given enough time and effort. This picture is at least big enough to work with, even tho the resolution isn't as good as it could be. But since you are fairly new to pattern making, this one would be tough IMO. It would be hard for a veteran pattern maker, at least to get any detail at all. That, of course, is just my opinion, everybody has one. scrolln99 and Ivan Nikolaev 2 Quote
jerry1939 Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 Unrelated to your question, as a young man, I worked around Dad's sawmill. Do you know what the electric motor at the very top is powering? jerry Ivan Nikolaev and scrolln99 2 Quote
scrolln99 Posted January 19, 2019 Author Report Posted January 19, 2019 Okay, Thanks guys for the input. I'll take your advice and give it another go. Jerry, this sawmill was kind of a homemade rig my grandpa operated in Northern Indiana. The electric motor was powering a smaller blade that you can"t see very well. But that smaller blade would knock off any dirt so not to dull the main blade. Above his head is a wooden handle that you would pull down to engage it. Hope that answers your question. Thanks, martin. Birchbark and Ivan Nikolaev 2 Quote
