My wife takes a few days every year and devotes all her time to a 1000 piece jig saw puzzle.  Recently she asked for a jig saw spinner and here it is. the main surface is 3/8 BBPW. It's covered by felt which is glued to the PW with 3M 77. I cut the edging from cedar (it was a broken cedar chest left by the previous owner of the house we live in). Under the BB I have a 12 x 12 PW riser and attached to that a 12" lazy Susan that came from Rockler. The edging is finished with a thin coat of garnet shellac, one coat of mahogany stain and three coats of General Finishes High Performance top coat. I've included a picture of the edging so you can see the profile and the clamp-up.  The overall size is approx. 35" by 35".

I like it! Before I started scrolling, Puzzles were my winter project. I always used a picture frame close to the same size as the puzzle. When I was done, I had a piece of 1/4" PW I would lay over the puzzle and flip it and tape over the back. This is way better!!!

That looks very nice Berry and I am sure your wife is thrilled with it.  My hubby has a sister who likes to do puzzles.  We had her name for Christmas this year and I had him make a Puzzle Tray with drawers like the one found here: http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/project-jigsaw-puzzle-tray/ - I asked him if he got pictures of it before he gave it to her - he said no.  I need to get some pictures of it.  Turned out very nice.  I liked it because it had the drawers underneath to store the unused pieces with.  I like the idea of it "spinning" and that would be a great addition to the one he made.  He used flocking on the top of his and inside the drawers.  Once I get a picture or two, I will share here.

The one problem with the size of the one he did, it would probably not fit the bigger puzzles that your wife likes to do.  I found that it really depends on the puzzle as to how "big" it ends up being.  The dimensions of this one meant that they were probably limited to 500 piece puzzles mostly.

One of the first things I did was to check the finished dimensions of all the puzzles she has. This will fit them all with space on the board for the 'unfinished' pieces. The spinner will let her stay in a chair while she works - a lot less up and down.
