Just had to share this, up until the other day I thought a battery charger was a battery charger, seen one you seen them all.

This thing is amazing, it chargers 4 AA or AAA batteries, it chargers and monitors them individually. It continually goes through the status of each one, telling you the elapsed time, charge rate, voltage, MA level and more.

Its got 5 different modes, basic charging, refresh/analyze, break-in [for new batteries], Discharge, and cycle.

Perhaps best of all, has a great looking LED screen.

This has already brought some weak battery sets back to life, the problem with most chargers is they are dumb.

They charge the batteries as a unit, and if there is a weak one in the batch, all of them will only go to that level.

Since this charger analyzes and charges them individually, this problem is eliminated, so you can weed out dying batteries out of sets, revive weak ones, and keep strong ones running longer.

If you love gadgets and use a lot of rechargeables, this is a no brainer, I would highly recommend it.

$56 shipped, not cheap, but will eventually pay for itself, and keep your battery draining devices happier than ever.

There are a number of sources for this, cheapest I found was good old ebay

Looks good wag, I could kick myself for not getting one sooner.

I am into scanning/shortwave as well, just got Unidens Home Patrol 1 and a 396XT handheld last week.

Had some $$ burning a hole in my pocket, and wanted to at least get something that I would get some good use out of.

I have heard some melted radio horror stories from charging in the scanner, one of the things that made me make a move on this.

Shortwave, I still use my trusty old Drake R8.
