savethebeer Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 I've used GIMP to make several successful patterns of people, but now I want to make some word patterns so I would like to use a different programme to make these patterns. I know Jerry and Kevin {the Amazing} make lots of such patterns. What programmes do members favour. Bob Quote
Scrappile Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 I think most use Inkscape. Another free software. And tutorials available here and YouTube. Quote
Foxfold Posted October 30, 2019 Report Posted October 30, 2019 I use Inkscape as I've never tried any of the others. The tutorials are brilliant, especially the one on here that Travis did. Quote
savethebeer Posted October 31, 2019 Author Report Posted October 31, 2019 Thanks for the info and the messages. I'm going back to university and I'll restart my lessons with Travis. I started Inkscape ages ago when GIMP started acting up, and then went back to GIMP when I realised photos into patterns only works on GIMP so I gave up on Inkscape. 4 days ago my second Grandaughter was born and suddenly I'm coming up with a need for word art patterns for her, hence my sudden desire to learn how to do them properly. All my previous word patterns have been done by hand, so I know I need to get more professional. I'll be in touch when I've come up with the inevitable problems. Bob Quote
don in brooklin on Posted November 1, 2019 Report Posted November 1, 2019 As you have found out GIMP is best for Portraits and Inkscape is for word art patterns etc. Travis university videos are great and if you have questions please post your questions that is what the Village is all about. Everyone learns by questions. Also there are some good videos on YouTube as the Cricut users use Inkscape for some specific word issues. If you need a pattern in hurray please post in the pattern request section. Quote
