Popular Post munzieb Posted December 31, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted December 31, 2019 I just finished my wife's Christmas present! She bought me a Rokr 3D clock. It was a fun project and took about 2 days on and off. I wasn't sure if I should put it bragging rights since the parts were laser cut and I only assembled it. I enjoyed building it anyway. Their website list all their projects but Amazon has cheaper prices. https://rokrpuzzles.com/ . Another good website is Ugears https://ugearsmodels.us/catalog/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Bing&utm_campaign=UGEARS&utm_term=ugears model&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=Bing&utm_campaign=UGEARS&utm_term=ugears model&msclkid=3e84c0d7f9ae125da24a9edc65d8ed0e I may try another project if the garage gets too cold! 20191231_134959.mp4 FDPiper, RabidAlien, flarud and 7 others 9 1 Quote
oldhudson Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 I didn't know they had kits like that. Looks great. munzieb 1 Quote

Painted the hands black to see better and the 2 pins that hold the hour ring broke and had to CA glue in place. They do give you spare parts but not those pins. I wish the drawings had been a little darker and making sure the right pins go to the proper gears and they are pushed through the right length. Amazing, but once the pendulum starts its almost hard to stop!. amazingkevin 1 Quote
flarud Posted January 1, 2020 Report Posted January 1, 2020 Very cool! I can say without a doubt,, I will never attempt to make one of those! LOL munzieb 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted January 2, 2020 Report Posted January 2, 2020 That is remarkable. I would not have the patience. Well done. munzieb 1 Quote
RabidAlien Posted January 2, 2020 Report Posted January 2, 2020 1. Scan all the instructions to your computer. 2. Disassemble the clock. 3. Photocopy/scan all the hardware. 4. Now you have plans to make your own out of whatever wood you choose, and can post it in Bragging Rights! Always wanted to make a wooden clock, myself, but have no source for affordable brass hardware. I suppose if I get serious about it, I can always hit Lowes and find pieces in the plumbing dept... Scrappile Posted January 2, 2020 Report Posted January 2, 2020 Looks like a challenging, fun project. Not sure I would have the patience for it. munzieb 1 Quote

Scrappile Posted January 22, 2020 Report Posted January 22, 2020 @munzieb, check this out. My wife went to her quilting group last evening and came home with this!! One of the lady's husband was cleaning things out and was going to toss it. She grabbed it and gave it to my wife, she knew I do wood working and thought I will like to have it.... RabidAlien 1 Quote
munzieb Posted January 22, 2020 Author Report Posted January 22, 2020 Well, I'll Be! I have mine sitting in my office. Once I got all the shaft/rod distances adjusted to frame, it runs great. The kit comes with some tool/gages to adjusted the orange rubber stops on the shaft. Kit comes with spare parts and hopefully there are some spare stops/caps. They are very small. Only complaint is that the main spring runs just about 6 hours. I sent Rokr and email about it and they responded "Thank You". Oh well! Quote
Scrappile Posted January 22, 2020 Report Posted January 22, 2020 I think most wooden gear clocks don't run a long time, I could be wrong, but my grandfather clock to has the weight pulled up about every 4 days. If nothing else, this makes a good sculpture or conversation piece. munzieb 1 Quote
munzieb Posted January 22, 2020 Author Report Posted January 22, 2020 We have a Howard Miller GF clock and a old German Mantel Clock from my GM and both run about a week. The Rokr clock sits behind me in the office and the ticking has a soothing tone. Just wish it runs longer. I have seen some leaf springs on Amazon that are 1/2" dia. that run several days but the attachments would have to be modified. It's somewhere further down on the to do list. Working on a raised outside pattern Jewelry box (waiting for the shop to warm up to finish) and thinking about a 1953 model 62 Ghia Cadillac (Rita Hayworth's car). RabidAlien 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted January 22, 2020 Report Posted January 22, 2020 Had to look that car up, never seen or heard of one before. Beautiful car. Rita Hayworth,,,, ah, I was so in love with her when I was a kid!!! RabidAlien 1 Quote
