Bucky 80 Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 Been using a new Dewalt 788 for abount 2 weeks. Added the comfort knobs, great addition, save's my thumb lots of pain. Added arm holding bar, another great addition. Concerned my blade is off center (to the right, a couple of mm) of the hole in the table. I have adjusted the table tilt mechanism including the degrees pointer the best I can and the blade is still off center. Is there another adjustment I am missing? OCtoolguy 1 Quote
jollyred Posted March 24, 2020 Report Posted March 24, 2020 As long as the blade has clearance in the hole and does not hit the table, this is really not a big problem. If you want to move the blade over, look at the screws holding the blade in the top and bottom clamps. They can be adjusted to move the blade over. Shorten the one in the direction you want to go, and lengthen the other. Just be sure they are both extending into the opening of the clamp. If one is not, then that will cause the blade to get crimped and break quickly. Adjust the screws in the other clamp the same so the blade goes up and down perfectly vertical with the saw running. Wilson142 Posted March 24, 2020 Report Posted March 24, 2020 If you decide to adjust your set screws, make sure you move both the same distance. Don't just move one. Find a washer or some suitable spacer that will put the blade somewhere near the center of the blade hole. back out the thumbscrew, insert your spacer and bring the set screw out to it. Do both upper and lower...Not just one. That will ensure your blade is equal from top to bottom. The blade doesn't have to be perfectly in the center but it does need to be the same upper and lower or your cuts will be angled. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
OCtoolguy Posted March 24, 2020 Report Posted March 24, 2020 Did you loosen the table bolts? There are bolts that hold table to the tilt trunnion that have some play in them. You should be able to shift the table enough to center it. I did on my 788 when I had it. Wilson142 1 Quote
Bucky 80 Posted April 10, 2020 Author Report Posted April 10, 2020 Happily adjusting the table bolts did the trick. Thank you OCtoolguy 1 Quote
