dgman Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 After several years of not gardening, I planted tomato plants this year. All of my Hand gardening tool handles had deteriorated to the point of throwing them away. But in today’s economy, I just couldn’t throw them away! I had some 1 1/4” Mahogany and I thought I can make some new handles! Problem is, my mini lathe has a broken drive belt. So I drilled the holes with my drill press, then used my flex sander mounted in my grinder to shape the handles. Now I have some good as new tools! No finish necessary. amazingkevin, JimErn and RabidAlien 3 Quote
Rockytime Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 You did a great job on your handles but for Pete's sake get a new belt for that lathe of yours! dgman 1 Quote
jollyred Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 More than one way to get most jobs done. This turned out great. Tom dgman 1 Quote

Les, I used to turn a lot. I have made hundreds of pens, tons of bottle stoppers, bowls and pepper grinders and everything in between. Nothing against turning, I just got burned out on turning. Quote

I just posted on craigslist all my pen making supplies. Ever since I started scrolling pen making took a back seat. I'm selling a ton of stuff. I'm keeping the lathe though. Still use it for odds and ends. dgman 1 Quote
RabidAlien Posted May 1, 2020 Report Posted May 1, 2020 I've always been a big fan of repair vs replace. Kudos!! dgman 1 Quote
