Dragonkort Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 ok years ago I scanned this picture from a book I was reading at the time into my computer then printed it out and put it in my woodworking patterns. I would like to try to cut this out as a fret work piece but im not quite sure how to go about doing it. if I I just leave it the way it is would I cut out all the black or all the white...and would it be able to be cut just the way it is ? and if not could some one please turn it into a fret pattern for me? thank you for any help you can give me/ Quote
Birchbark Posted May 29, 2020 Report Posted May 29, 2020 You can cut the black just as it is, but here are the islands that will be problems. All the white needs to connect. If it does connect, no white would show in the pic below. Since there is some white showing, you need to connect it to the rest of the white. Not sure I explained it well enough, but the pic below shows the islands/problem areas. Did u want it fixed or did u want to do it? Russell don watson, flarud and multitom 3 Quote
Dragonkort Posted June 1, 2020 Author Report Posted June 1, 2020 Thank you so much birchbark. i am not quite sure what you mean about the white spots if i understand correctly these white spots should be connected to something... but im not sure what? lol Thank you so much for offering to fix it for me...I would really appreachet it if you would fix it for me. I can pay you a little something or perhaps make you something from my other non wood crafts ? I have had this picture for decaids but never know quite how to go about cutting it. I did think it would proubly be the black that i would i cut.... now a few more question if you dont mind? iv talked to people here and before i start this i want to try to make sure i have some idea of what im doing!! this is not a project to takle with a wish and a prayer as i usuly do!! from what iv heard i should stake cut between 2 and 4 of these.... and use the small blades.....1s 2s and 3s and use 1/4 inch balitic burch, any other instructions or suggestions would most defently be welcomed! im sorry i didnt answer this post sooner, iv looked in my notices to see if there was an answer to my question but i didnt see one, maybe it dosnt alert you for answered posts for this section of the sight....I decided to look here and see if my message got posted because i didnt see any notices that it had been answered . i was sure someone would have answered it if it had gotten posted and i was right! when i do this one it will be the most complex design i have ever tried....and now that i have some one to help me get the pattern right i won't have any excuess not to do it!! lol most people dont understand how an anxity panic disorder with agoraphobia effects every part of our lives... They think its just the fear and anxity of getting outside or leaving our homes that effects us... if that were only true!! iv been crafting for 30 + years...including woodworking but i have always been afraid to try anything that wasnt really rather simple....iv gotten a little better over the years and spike helps me when im not sure what to do next...but this sight and all you wounderful people have made me want to try something a little harder... Thank you to all of you and i will try not to wreak the peace or disapoint anyone with my efforts....i'll try to take pictures as i work on it so you guys can see my progress and how im doing. Now remember this is NOT going to be the only project im going to work on until its done lol this is mainly for me lol and i will be doing other woodworking projects at the same time. lol i will need to have projects im fairly sure i can do to keep my nerves half way steady!! lol and again thank you ever so very much!!! Dragonkort Posted June 3, 2020 Author Report Posted June 3, 2020 Thank you so much birchbark !!! now see here lets not get me all nervious about cutting this before i even get started!!! lol i have decided to only drill out 3 or 4 holes at a time and cut them then drill a few more after that....that way if i mess it up i will still be able to use the uncut wood. lol now i will inlarge this pattern a bit befor attatching it to the wood and i will carefuly go one cut at a time and with Gods help get it cut.....as this is just a slightly more complex pattern then what iv done in the past.....we will countue to tell myself that until after i get cut....lol then we will see lol yup this is just a mediumly harder cut then iv ever done before..... lol again Thank you so much for the pattern!!! and yes if i ever get it finishes before i die i will defently put it up!!! lol Rockytime and Wilson142 1 1 Quote

Don't psych yourself out. It is only wood after all. I blew it up about double but after that it begins to lose detail but it is definitely doable. I'll bet you'll surprise yourself! Dragonkort Posted June 9, 2020 Author Report Posted June 9, 2020 lol thanks Wilson I started putting patterns onto wood today for stack cutting and I got the bb out to cut to size so I can put the wizard pattern on it...im going to try to cut one of the easer things first tomarrow before I tackle the wizard, don't know if it was just me today or if I need my dewalt checked out...when I was sawing today I was having a lot of trouble staying on the lines...at first I though well ok I didn't put the blade back in the nontight position so maybe that s what was causing it to sort of wander to the left a bit...and then I changed the blade...andfinally I had spike check the table to make sure it was level which It was...so im thinking i'll try again tomorrow on something simple and see if I do better... lol its proubly just me I hope I was doing a lot of cutting today getting wood ready to put patterns on.
