John B Posted May 30, 2020 Report Posted May 30, 2020 The State Govt. has removed restrictions on travel within WA. Originally the State was divided into 7 regions and travel was restricted between each, the reduced to 4 about 2 weeks ago. The majority of the State, including the Goldfields where banned from travel to the Southwest of the city of Perth, unless for medical or other exempt reasons. Well, at midnight on Friday the restrictions got lifted. and Monday is a public Holiday, Foundation Day. The roads, as predicted have been a nightmare, with country people not being able to get to the city, or to visit relatives in other regions for over 12 weeks. Although I would love to get to Perth to see my 84 year old Dad, who lives by himself, and my Sisters, I'll wait for another weekend when the excitement has died down. Hard State borders are still in existence so travel from WA to other states is restricted to emergency, or essential travel for the foreseeable future. stay safe all danny, amazingkevin and RabidAlien 3 Quote

wombatie Posted May 31, 2020 Report Posted May 31, 2020 From tomorrow we are allowed to travel the state and stay at motels, hotels and caravan parks. The 8th June is a public holiday so the roads will be bedlam over that weekend. My youngest daughter lives in a holiday town and they are not looking forward to it. Also from tomorrow there will be no restrictions on anything in supermarkets and they will be back to packing our bags. I think the second wave should hit in about a months time. Marg John B 1 Quote
John B Posted May 31, 2020 Author Report Posted May 31, 2020 @wombatie Yep, it's a worry with the 6 cases from the live sheep export ship that docked at Freo from Kuwaiti, and the cases popping up in schools in the East. Shows it doesn't take much, especially with the number of idiots who don't seem to take it seriously and away we go again on another lockdown. stay safe Marg don watson and wombatie 2 Quote
